Biography

Born in Santa Monica, California in 1952, Arnold spent most the vast majority of his childhood living in Munich, Germany with his family. After high school, he returned to the United States, where he attended the College of Marin in Kentfield, California. At age 33, he was accepted into the San Francisco Art Institute’s graduate studies program, where he earned his M.F.A. in 1987. His work has been shown primarily on the West Coast, at institutions including the de Saisset Museum, Santa Clara; the San Francisco Art Institute; Tacoma Museum of Art; Tamarind Institute, Albuquerque; and the San Jose Museum of Art. He was featured alongside James Doolin in SJMA’s 2001 exhibition Urban Invasion. (SJMA Collections Committee, 2006)
